Our Courage students recently bridged the gap between Barnsley’s industrial heritage and modern physics. In an engaging hands-on lesson, pupils explored the properties of conductors and insulators by constructing their own circuits.

The highlight of the session was linking these scientific principles to the local history of the miner’s safety lamp. By testing various materials to see which successfully lit their bulbs, students gained a practical understanding of how electricity flows. It was wonderful to see our learners acting as scientific explorers, connecting fundamental physics with the world around them!
